Brain Game Center - Volunteer Research Assistant

About the Position & Lab

The Brain Game Center & SoundMind Collaboratory at Northeastern University focuses on understanding how people learn, think, and process information. Led by Dr. Aaron Seitz and Dr. Susanne Jaeggi, the lab conducts research in cognitive psychology, exploring areas such as attention, memory, perception, and executive functioning. Through the development and testing of interactive, game-based cognitive training programs, researchers aim to better understand how cognitive abilities can be measured and improved across different age groups.

The lab offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience as volunteer research assistants. Responsibilities may include administering cognitive assessments, guiding participants through research sessions, screening individuals for study eligibility, testing research software, and assisting with data collection. Research assistants work with a variety of populations, including adolescents, college students, and older adults, while gaining experience in participant interaction and research procedures.

Students are generally expected to commit approximately 10 hours per week, with most opportunities taking place in person at Northeastern University. The lab also provides opportunities for students to become more involved in research projects, take on leadership responsibilities, and contribute to research presentations. This position is a great opportunity for students interested in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, and other health-related fields to develop valuable research skills in a collaborative environment.
