The Tribe Lab - Volunteer Research Assitant

About the Position & Lab

The TRIBE Lab is a community-engaged research lab working at the intersection of disability, community, physical activity, and overall health. Directed by Dr. Winston Kennedy (PT, DPT, PhD, MPH), we design and study programs, policies, and clinical practices that make movement, rehabilitation, and community life more inclusive for people who have historically been pushed to the margins of those spaces. Our research is grounded in three commitments: that inclusion and belonging are health issues; that the people most affected by inequity should help shape the research meant to address it; and that rehabilitation science has both the responsibility and the tools to do this work better. This is a lab-wide role. The student will contribute to several active studies, with responsibilities spanning quantitative data analysis, participant recruitment, engaging with community partners, and qualitative data analysis. There will also be opportunities to support manuscript and conference materials.

We are seeking a student with prior experience analyzing data in R and a track record of clear scientific writing. Coursework in statistics or research methods is expected. The position also offers structured opportunities to learn qualitative research methods, including interview coding, thematic analysis. Time commitment per week is varied but can be expected to be at most 10 hours a week. This position runs through August 31 but can continue afterwards if the student chooses. To apply or learn more, please email wi.kennedy@northeastern.edu along with a resume and summary of your background and interest in the role.
